Inviting someone
Sharing always starts with one person creating a single-use invitation link, and ends with the other person opening it and accepting. Families arrive from both directions, so this guide is two walk-throughs — read the one that is you, or both.
How an invitation works
How invitations work
A guardian creates an invitation link for one role. The link expires after 48 hours and is single-use.
Invitations are created from the profile’s guardian screen by someone allowed to manage guardians. The link carries the role it was created for — the recipient cannot choose a higher one.
Each link works once and expires 48 hours after it is created. An expired or already-used link simply stops working; a fresh one can be created any time.
Outstanding invitations are listed on the same screen and can be cancelled there before they are used.

You track for yourself, and invite someone in
Sam has been logging her own cycle and wants her partner Alex to follow along and help log. Alex needs his own lunarlog account on his own device; the invitation carries him in.
- Open the profile's guardian management: from the profile, choose Guardians.
- Choose Invite guardian. The invitation is created from your lunarlog account, so sign in first if the app asks.
- Pick the role the invitation carries — the person accepting cannot choose a higher one than you sent. Alex gets Co-Parent so he can log and manage alongside Sam; a Caregiver link is the fit when someone should log but not manage, and a Viewer link for read-only.
- Share the link the app shows — Share this single-use link with the guardian for Sam: It works once and expires; Alex can open it on his phone and accept.
- On Alex's side, opening the link shows Join shared profile with the role spelled out; Accept & sync brings Sam's profile onto his device, syncing from then on. Until he accepts, the pending invitation sits in the guardian management list, where Sam can cancel it with Cancel invitation.
What Alex sees is the whole profile, under his role — the same entries, estimates, and history Sam sees, in guardian view.
You set a profile up for someone, and invite her to log it
Dana's daughter Maya is fifteen and wants to keep her own log. Dana creates the profile on her own phone, logs the early days while Maya settles in, and then hands Maya the invitation — from then on Maya logs on her own phone, and Dana follows along.
- Create the profile: Add profile from Profiles, and on Who is this profile for? choose Someone I care for. Mark This profile is for a minor for a young person — it keeps the framing right for her age.
- In the new profile's guardian management, choose Invite guardian and pick the option addressed to the person the profile is about: Invite Maya to log their own profile.
- Share the link with Maya: Share this single-use link with Maya - they'll use it to join and log their own profile: On her phone, she signs in — or creates her account — and accepts. Her screen says it plainly: This is your profile. Maya's cycle calendar and health logs will sync to this device - the guardians already sharing it can see and log it too.
- From then on the profile is hers to log on her own device, with Dana's access exactly as she chose it. Maya is the profile's subject and logs it; Dana remains its guardian — the ownership transfer is a separate, later decision, not a requirement for any of this.
A young person accepting an invitation sees an age note as part of the setup — lunarlog is licensed 13 and up: someone aged 13 or older can create an account and use it on her own, and a parent or guardian's invitation is how someone under 13 uses it.
Changing your mind
An invitation that has not been used can be cancelled from the same guardian management list. A guardian who is already in can be removed there too — removal ends their access immediately and cancels every still-open invitation for that profile; the entries they logged stay, with their original attribution.
What removing a guardian does
Removal ends access immediately and cancels that profile’s open invitations. Logged history stays.
A removed guardian can no longer read or log on the profile, and their alert settings for it stop. Entries they logged while they had access stay in history with their original attribution.
Removing any guardian also cancels every still-open invitation for that profile, so no link created earlier can be used afterwards.
Only the primary guardian and co-parents can remove guardians, and the primary guardian’s own access cannot be removed this way — ownership moves only through a transfer.
